BackPorch Bluegrass: Music

Dark Clouds Rising

(BackPorch Bluegrass)
Ralph Winters
This song was written by our mandolin player, Josh Winters grandfather. Ralph Winters was an ole time country preacher and banjo player to whom Josh credits with teaching him music and how to play all the different instruments. Josh has oft been heard saying, My Grandpa taught me how to play by laying an instument out on the bed before leaving for work each day and saying "Boy, don't touch that instrument".

We are honored the Winters' family allowed us to include this song on our first Gospel CD.
Dark Clouds Rising

As I walk down through this wearisome land
I don’t have wealth or fame
All I have I hold in my hand
But I walk in Jesus name

I can see dark clouds a rising
My path lies rough and steep
They crucified my savior
And what will they do to me.

I heard my savior calling
Said stand up son and dry up your tears
I’m sending you to preach my gospel
You must preach it for many long years

I can see dark clouds a rising
My path lies rough and steep
They crucified my savior
And what will they do to me.

For 20 some years now I’ve preached it,
And lord it seems I can’t see,
Why you called a poor retched sinner
And sent some one like me

I can see dark clouds a rising
My path lies rough and steep
They crucified my savior
And what will they do to me.
